Lavina Teerlinc (1510-1576) was Flemish, a painter who worked for the Tudors from the time of Henry VIII through the reign of his daughter, Elizabeth I. She was the oldest daughter of Simon Bening, a famous illuminator of the Ghent-Bruges school. Like all women artists of this period, she was trained by her father and probably worked in his workshop before her marriage.
